Marvel Contest of Champions, the top comic book-based game from Kabam, is continuing its tenth-anniversary celebrations with all new different storylines. This latest arc is act 9, chapter 1 with “The Reckoning”. And while information is scant on the ground a new trailer unveils some of the awe-inspiring threats you may be set to face.
In the trailer, just released and viewable below, you can see Doctor Doom and Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) in a rare team-up as they uncover more about Ouroboros and the sinister Chronoserphant. That includes new, evil and empowered versions of classic characters you’ll need to face down, emblematic of which is the new X-23 (Orochi) boss.
There’s a whole lot of quests to tackle, and a new system called SCOURGE which can best be described as something like the threat level from XCOM. Let it get out of hand and soon you’ll be trying to tackle quest nodes that are packed with threats way beyond your ability, so keep your scourge under control or end up overwhelmed.

Say what you like about Contest of Champions but it’s definitely authentically Marvel in that it seems there’s always another “must-see” event taking place somewhere in the multiverse. In this case, there’s the usual crop of shadowy, evil versions of your favourite characters to spot. All it’s missing is the phrase “everything will change” or words to that effect. But for a tenth-anniversary, this promises to be as big and dramatic as you can get on mobile.
