- PUBG Mobile is set to partner with Guild Esports
- This organisation, which is co-owned by David Beckham, will see its team enter four upcoming tournaments
- It comes hot on the heels of the Nations Cup finals taking place in Seoul, South Korea this month
PUBG Mobile, the top battle royale from Krafton, is set to partner up with Guild Esports. The organisation, which is co-owned by famous footballer David Beckham, will feature its team in four upcoming competitions for PUBG Mobile. The hope, I’d assume, is that the major names and talent on this team’s roster will turbo-boost PUBG Mobile’s existing esports scene.
The team will feature in the 2024 PMSL EMEA Fall tournament, the PMGC Finals and the upcoming 2025 editions of the PMSL EMEA tournament for both Spring and Fall. It’s a big time for esports around PUBG Mobile, as the game’s Nations Cup is set to commence in Seoul, South Korea with a massive prize pool and 16 teams.
However, I’d hazard a guess that many esports viewers and casual fans are likely wondering just how momentous this partnership might be. Sure, there are big names attached, but for something as supposedly meritocratic as esports, a team being elevated to these competitions is a bit odd.

Personally, not knowing as much about esports as I do, the names attached to the team could be very big, but I do note that David Beckham’s name is the one headlining all these stories despite being a co-owner. It does make me wonder whether or not this partnership is predicated on prestige, rather than the ability of the teams, but I’m hoping that I’m wrong.
