There were no weapons found on campus after someone reported to police that there was a firearm during the Weatherford High School Homecoming Dance on Saturday night, according to Weatherford police.
Officers took a student into custody after they said he got into a fight with an administrator after using a THC vape on the dance floor, according to police.
Off-duty officers working security during the dance at the school gymnasium were told around 8:48 p.m. that someone had a gun, police said in a post on social media. The off-duty officers requested more patrol units and medics were staged nearby. Police said they began searching the building when more reports came in of a person with a weapon in the bathroom and at the baseball fields.
The school dance was evacuated as officers conducted the search, according to the post on social media.
Police searched everywhere they received reports of a person with a gun but found no weapons anywhere, according to authorities. There were no shots heard by officers on the scene, and surveillance video didnāt show any weapons.
The school is offering counselors to students who may need them, police said. If anybody has information about what happened, theyāre asked to call police at 817-598-4310.
