- Populus Run, the former Apple Arcade exclusive, is making the jump to Android
- It’s coming out on Google Play on September 19th
- You can play the early levels for free and then pay for the full game
Populus Run, the formerly Apple Arcade-exclusive game where you control a crowd of people as you race along through levels, is coming to Android and the iOS App Store proper. You can find it arriving on September 19th, as Fiftytwo is offering a free taster of the game, with an optional in-app purchase to unlock the full experience.
A runner game without the “endless” part, Populus Run sees you control a small crowd of people racing through dozens of levels, dodging obstacles and fast food. It boasts a hardcore mode and multiple bosses to take on as you try and make it to the end (virtually) unscathed.
If you’ve spotted all of these ads that are clearly riffing on the concept, you’ll soon be able to play something a little closer to what they claim to offer. iOS players aren’t missing out either as you can now find Populus Run on the App Store proper!
Run for it
There’s not much else I can say about another Apple Arcade-exclusive making the jump to mobile proper. I’m an Android player, and frankly, I’ve never really been fussed about the idea of subscription gaming on any platform. But that’s not to say Populus Run looks bad, simply that I think a lot of people will mainly be glad they actually get to play it after only being able to look on from afar.
