WHAT KIND OF GEESE?

Well, it hasn’t been very long since Donald Trump mentioned during the presidential debate that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, were killing and eating dogs and cats, and he also added geese to his laughable story.
I hope Justin Trudeau will inquire as to what kind of geese Trump is talking about. They could be our beloved Canada geese being devoured in Ohio, and, if so, Trudeau should insist this attack on Canada geese be stopped, eh.

Re: ‘Not fair at all’; City facing tough choices to cover transit budget, Sept. 13
“Pay your fair share” is Mayor Mark Sutcliffe’s new mantra. He couples it with OC Transpo’s projected loss of $120 million. I have a real problem with both the slogan and the losses. Unlike the government, OC Transpo is a business. I don’t think it was ever meant to be profitable, but breaking even should always be in the realm of possibility.

When people throw around numbers that big, I like to see proof. OC Transpo’s financial statements might be a good start; make them public. Perhaps explaining how much LRT costs are impacting the bottom line would be another way.
I was, as were most people, led to believe we were getting the gold standard in mass transportation. But I think we got the Ford Edsel version!

Re: ‘Not fair at all’; City facing tough choices to cover transit budget, Sept. 13
In the article by Blair Crawford, there was an outrageous claim by the mayor that there were only three options to get more money. “There is no other way,” he said. Anyone who has been following the three levels of governments — federal, provincial and our municipal one — knows full well that their employment numbers became bloated during the pandemic. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that not every city employee is essential for the efficient and effective operation of the city, but the mayor refuses to address that situation.

Although the comment from Liberal MP Jenna Sudds is hilarious, given the record of her government, it is true when she said the city must “get its own house in order.”
Being the mayor is not a popularity contest, it is a job where difficult decisions must be made.
