- AFK Journey’s latest update, Waves of Intrigue, launches today
- It introduces sailing, fishing and even stealth!
- Explore the salty den of iniquity that is Rustport and resolve a war between rival gangs
Ahoy there! Yes, AFK Journey is back in the headlines with its latest update, and this isn’t just the addition of some new slightly recoloured variation on the European countryside. Because Waves of Intrigue will take you to the high seas with the addition of brand-new mechanics and areas to explore! As long as you’ve reached Resonance level 240 or above, you’ll be able to jump into the new update any time you want!
First, the big addition is of course, sailing (and fishing). You’ll explore the seedy of Rustport and work to resolve a brewing conflict between the two rival gangs of the Carmine Whispers and the Water Wights. Of course, to compensate you’ll now be able to take to the seas aboard your very own ship and even hunt for undersea treasure!
And it’s not just sailing, as stealth is also a newly introduced component that lets you sneak through enemy camps undetected. Take on the roguelike Heroic Gauntlet, or experience the previous season’s content with the new Peaks of Time mode!
Yarr-harr
That’s still not all either, you’ll meet three new characters as part of this update, with Graveborn rogue Nara, Water Wights member Sinbad (a Lightbearer rogue) and finally a new celestial in the form of Dunlingr.
I admit, being an unrepentant fan of pirates myself, I quite like the look of Waves of Intrigue. It’s got shades of both the more animesque fantasy you normally see in AFK Journey, as well as a slightly grittier Pirates of the Caribbean-esque flavour. Check it out as it goes live today!
