Tennis legend Sir Andy Murray has firmly ruled out the possibility of competing in Strictly Come Dancing, emphatically responding “certainly not” to such suggestions.
The 37 year old icon, who retired from professional tennis last year, cheekily hinted that maybe his brother Jamie could consider taking to the dance floor instead as he spoke during the BMW PGA Championship Pro-AM event in Surrey.
Responding to swirling Strictly speculation, Sir Andy clarified to PA: “That’s highly unlikely. Don’t know what my brother will be doing. But it certainly won’t be me, that’s for sure.”
His mother, Judy Murray, famously participated in Strictly, exiting at the Blackpool Tower during week eight of the shows 12th season after partnering with Anton Du Beke, who has now transitioned into a judging role on the series.
Excitement builds as the lineup for the eagerly awaiting new series boasts names like sitcom star Sarah Hadland from Miranda, chart sensation Shayne Ward, Love Island’s beloved Tasha Ghouri, athletic Montell Douglas, EastEnders‘ Jamie Borthwick, swimmer Tom Dean, and the cherished Morning Live medic Punam Krishan, as reported by the Mirror.
The dazzling line-up includes former England footballer Paul Merson, Olympic hockey star Sam Quek, stand-up comedian Chris McCausland, the operatic titan Wynne Evans, ‘DIY SOS’ sensation Nick Knowles, JLS heartthrob JB Gill, rock icon Toyah Willcox, and reality TV favourite Pete Wicks, reports OK! Magazine.
BBC director general Tim Davie said the broadcaster is “pretty close to the end” of its probe into abuse claims on the show while at the Royal Television Society London Convention on Tuesday.
The investigation began after accusations surfaced against pro dancer Giovanni Pernice by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington.
Giovanni, 33, has refuted these claims. His colleague Graziano Di Prima also left the show amid the controversy surrounding Giovanni’s conduct.
