Call Me Bae on Amazon Prime Video has become an instant hit. The web series starring Ananya Panday as Bella is entertaining, fun and all things trending, thus connecting with the young audience. The story revolves around a rich girl gone poor. From a fabulous mansion to a hostel, it is all about her struggle. Along with Ananya Panday, stars like Vir Das also have a pivotal role to play in the series. Lisa Mishra essays the role of Harleen in Call Me Bae. Her character is that of a very restrained producer of a prime-time show on a news channel. She has received several accolades for her portrayal of Harleen. With recently had a tete-a-tete with Lisa Mishra who spoke about her journey, bond with Ananya Panday and much more.
Call Me Bae is Lisa Mishra’s debut as an actor. She has been phenomenally successful as a musician in the industry, it is for the first time that she has got to showcase her skills as an actor. When asked how was her experience facing the camera as an actor, Harleen quoted, “I think it was exciting for me to do something new, especially because I have only done stage before. I’ve done musical theatre growing up and then I’ve done music videos, of course. I’ve been in so many of my own, but I’ve never done a long format role on screen. So I think that I was very nervous going into this, you have to really play a character and do justice to that. And there’s no fast edits like a music video. And you know, this is eternal, unlike a performance on stage, someone is going to only watch that once. And you and this was very, like nerve-wrecking for me as a process to go into. I’ve never worked in this format, even though I’ve done forms of acting for a really long time.”
Lisa was further asked how it was working with Ananya Panday and she couldn’t restrain herself from heaping praises on Bollywood’s ‘Bae’. The actress spoke at length about her bond with Ananya Panday and mentioned that she is among the kindest souls to be around. “Ananya and I have known each other for a few years because I’ve done music on a couple of projects back to back. And over the years, obviously we’ve grown closer. So when I was told that I was doing the show, she was super excited because we’d already established a bit of a friendship over the years. And she’s just so kind. I think that that’s probably the truest character part of her on the show. I think a lot of people were quick to say that, you know, this is very close to Ananya. She’s just playing herself. I think the only part of it that she’s playing super close to herself is the kindness. I feel like she’s endlessly kind and, benevolent and she’s very patient with her time. She doesn’t think she’s better than anybody or above anybody so I think it was just remarkable to see someone that young has this great sense of respect for everyone else but on top of that at the same time someone so experienced not have an ego so I think hats off to her she’s just you know a gem of a person to work with.”
