Injuries on set are not uncommon but Joe Locke ended up with ‘scabs’ from his intense makeout session while filming Heartstopper.
The third season of the beloved LGBTQ+ show is about to drop on Netflix and it seems Joe, 21, and his on-screen boyfriend Kit Connor, 20, have ramped up their passion.
Charlie and Nick’s relationship has become so intense that Joe has been left with ‘scrabs’ all over his chin from too much kissing.
‘We shot the sexy stuff for seven hours, which, you know, that’ll do it,’ Kit told GQ Hype. ‘We were both just knackered.
‘Joe developed this huge scab on his chin—’ he continued to which Joe chimed in and called it ‘horrible’.
The injury was caused by both men growing stubble since the last season filmed, making things a bit scratchy.
Speaking about their character’s romantic development, Kit continued: ‘We have had a really nice slow progression in terms of us as actors and as people getting to know each other and getting more comfortable with one another, starting with the kisses in season one and building up.
‘By season three, we know each other very well. So it meant that in terms of approaching those more raunchy scenes, it still…. It’s always something that’s slightly weird about it.’
Joe previously told Metro.co.uk he ‘love[s] working with [Kit]’ when asked if he knew anything about Marvel rumours surrounding the actor.
‘I’d love it if Kit was in the MCU,’ he praised. ‘But I’m pretty sure that’s just a baseless rumour.’
Fans had speculated that Kit could star as Hulkling in the MCU, alongside Joe as Teen in Agatha All Along.
No casting announcements have been made yet so fans will just have to watch Heartstopper to see these two together.
The third season will see many cast members return, including Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Jenny Walser (Tori).
Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey has also been cast as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous author and Charlie’s celebrity crush.
Meanwhile, MCU star Hayley Atwell will play Nick’s aunt, who takes him on holiday to Menorca and gives him some sage advice about his relationship with Charlie.
Also joining the cast is Eddie Marsen as Charlie’s ‘wise and straight-talking’ therapist, Geoff.
Heartstopper is streaming on Netflix from October 3.
