During the Mysterious Rifts quest, you’ll encounter a statue puzzle that prohibits you from going further. We’re here to guide you through this by showing you how to open the Suthorn Ruins second floor gate in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom.
Suthorn Ruins statue puzzle solution in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
To solve the Suthorn Ruins statue puzzle in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, use Bind on the statue with a shield. The creature Tri will provide you with this ability prior, allowing you to tug at enemies and objects. First, target the shield using the ‘ZL’ trigger, then press ‘X’ to Bind to it.
Start pulling the shield off the statue, and the gate should open immediately afterward. You’ll need to use Bind many more times, so try to get familiar with it while you can. In the next room, you’ll encounter some deadly foes, where the Echoes must come into play. I found the Peahat most helpful here, but there are plenty of other useful characters. Check out our guide on the best Echoes to get early if you want more suggestions.
The real challenge takes off in the following room, spawning a familiar figure. If you want to know how to defeat this opponent, read on. But be warned; there are some minor spoilers ahead.
How to defeat Suthorn Ruins miniboss in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
The mysterious Rifts have turned many people against Zelda, including our favorite hero, Link. You’ll need to defeat him in the Suthorn Ruins to unlock a handy new skill. The Peahat, once again, worked well for me at this point. You can also use Bind to pull Link’s shield away from him.
Once you’ve knocked him around a good bit, Link’s second phase triggers. He’ll be more deadly this time around due to his faster movement speed. Just let the Peahat do its job and stay away from him to keep those hearts intact.
You’ll then gain the Mysterious Sword, one of the most potent weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Use this new ability by raising the sword with the up-directional button. In return, Zelda can now attack with the ‘Y’ button, which you can hold to unleash a charged strike. The Swordfighter form also offers a defensive tactic by holding the ‘ZL’ trigger for a shield. You may have also noticed a higher jump when pressing the ‘B’ button.
Keep in mind that the Swordfighter form is only temporary, so you must collect more energy to activate it again.
