Amidst this, Shah revealed that a golden rule by Aamir Khan helped him shape and create the movie over seven years.
Talking about how Aamir Khan impacted the making of Tumbbad, Sohum Shah said that he followed the actor’s advice and only focused on a single project. He said, “There’s a certain structure even when you multi-task, which I have learned from Aamir Khan, even before I entered films. Whatever I have learned, it has been from the Hindi film industry, and within that, Aamir Khan has had a huge impact on me, that is, to do one task at a time but do it well, and success is a by-product. I believe in this thumb rule.”
Shah mentioned that he could have battled insecurities and second thoughts if he had not followed Khan’s thumb rule. He mentioned that he could dedicate seven years to Tumbbad because he followed Khan’s advice. The movie battled with a long production timeline as it had to undergo several re-shoots. He continued, “I could give seven years to Tumbbad because of that rule, which I kept in mind that Aamir had taught, to stick to it and believe it will take you somewhere. As an actor, even if I would face many insecurities, that my age is passing, I should do some other films. But back of my mind, this rule did stay and helped me, otherwise, I would have created a lot of mess.”
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad has raked in Rs 25 crore in its re-release. This amount is the highest a movie has ever earned in Bollywood in its re-release. Following the phenomenal response received by the film, the makers announced Tumbbad 2 earlier this month.
