Oliver Williams, 94, of Albany, Georgia departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held at First Methodist Church in Enterprise, Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew Jordan, senior pastor, officiating. Committal services will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Methodist Church Library, P. O. Box 311525, Enterprise, AL 36330.
Oliver served his country as part of the Army 82nd Airborne Division and then continued serving his fellow man as an insurance agent forming lifelong bonds with the families he served. His path made it possible for the family to live in Elba, Alabama for 15 years where the community rallied around the family and loved them in many ways. He then moved to Enterprise, Alabama where he lived for 53 years and where his family was shown the same love and support. He was a member of the Elba Methodist Church and a member of the First Methodist Church Enterprise and was an active member at each church. He also served each community in many different ways. His love for God and family was always very evident.
Survivors include his wife of more than 73 years, Patricia Ann “Pat” Williams of Albany; son, Anthony (Julie) Williams of Leesburg, Georgia; grandson, Benjamin (Britton) Williams of Chattanooga, Tennessee; granddaughter, Olivia Williams of Chattanooga; step-grandsons, Captain Stone (Allison) Williford of Spanaway, Washington, Slate Williford of Marietta, Georgia, Steel Williford of Tifton, Georgia; step-great-grandson, Grey Williford of Spanaway, Washington, and step-great-granddaughter, Sage Williford, also if Spanaway.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Johnathon Williams; his mother, Julia Caroline Williams; his brother, Robert Tarry Williams; his sister, Velma Caroline Padgett; his son, Michael Oliver Williams; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann Williams.
