A local group of “philanthropic leaders” donated a total of $115,000 this week to 10 community organizations.
The Inspiration 100 Association announced the donations on Wednesday during its annual member meeting and grants award ceremony.
“Each member of Inspiration 100 feels a personal responsibly in strengthening Windsor-Essex County,” said RaeAnne Copat, chair of the Inspiration 100 executive committee. “Inspiration 100 is providing critical funding for community groups who are making a positive impact within our community, and we have seen over the last couple of years just how vital these organizations and their services and programs are for our community. The diversity of the donors brings a unique opportunity to collaboratively look at a wider range of community groups in need.”

Inspiration 100 is a group of 100 “community-minded philanthropic leaders” who built an endowment fund under the umbrella of the WindsorEssex Community Foundation. Members nominate charities each year and vote on which ones will receive an investment from the fund.
Including the charities that received grants this year, Inspiration 100 has invested a total of $481,000 to 44 local charities in Windsor and Essex County.
“The WindsorEssex Community Foundation is honoured to host Inspiration 100 as one of its community endowment funds,” said foundation executive director Lisa Kolody. “We applaud the Inspiration 100 members for their commitment to community.”
The organizations that received cheques this week include the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County; Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario – Windsor House; Youth Wellness Hub Windsor-Essex; Windsor Goodfellows; Maryvale; GR8 Day – Crossroads Addiction Recovery Support; Abode Respite Services Inc.; Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation; and Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
