Archana Puran Singh recalled a time when she had to continue to laugh on the sets of a comedy show even after she learnt about her mother-in-law’s death. She mentioned that she stuck to her professional commitment even though she wanted to leave.
Archana Puran Singh has been a part of Kapil Sharma’s shows for a long time. She started working with him on Comedy Nights With Kapil and once the show ended, she joined him on The Great Indian Kapil Show. In a recent interview, the actor revealed how she had to continue laughing while shooting the show even after she received the news of her mother-in-law’s death.
In a conversation with Instant Bollywood, Archana Puran Singh recalled how she continued to shoot after she found out about her mother-in-law’s death. She mentioned how the team had already shot a major part of the episode and only a few scenes were left. She recalled how she wanted to leave immediately but she chose to stay and stick to her professional commitment.
Singh said, “I have laughed and imagined, in my head, what is going on now that my mother-in-law has just died. I don’t know how I laughed. This is 30-40 years you spend in an industry and you know the producer’s money is invested in this. You can’t leave your work incomplete.” She also talked about how the makers would ask her to give “laughing shots” which would be added in between the jokes.
In the same conversation, the actor revealed how she had been in difficult situations but she showed up to the set. She continued, “Things were so bad at home and someone’s health was not okay, but I went to the vanity van, got my makeup, and would often call home and check up. Fir, set par jake, ‘Haha, very nice, very nice.’”
