West Yorkshire Police’s Steerside Enforcement Team – the force’s dedicated initiative for tackling anti-social and dangerous driving – seized two cars on Hard Ings Road in Keighley yesterday.
One of them was a silver Volkswagen Passat TDI.
The vehicle was seized and the driver reported to court, as a result.
The team stopped a white Toyota Aygo on the same dual carriageway, while they were on patrol.
It had not been insured or taxed since May this year.
Officers seized the vehicle and the driver was also reported to court.
Operation Steerside was launched in 2016 specifically to tackle dangerous and anti-social driving in Bradford.
This was two months after the Telegraph & Argus launched its ‘Stop the Danger Drivers’ campaign.
It then evolved several years later into a multi-agency partnership to tackle crimes on the roads.
As of January this year, Bradford district police had taken action against 15,000 motorists for illegal or anti-social driving.
