A man in his 20s has died after he was allegedly hit by a car while he was standing outside his house in south-west Sydney.
Ismail Hossain was standing near the Toyota Corolla that Nasir Uddin was driving. Hossain was directing Uddin where to park outside the house in Cornelia Street, Wiley Park, shortly before 12.30am, when Uddin allegedly rammed into him.
Close friends say Uddin, 24, ploughed into Hossain, who is an international student, after potentially becoming confused and accidentally pressing the accelerator.
Emergency services rushed to help, but could not revive Hossein and he died at the scene.
A crime scene was established and will be examined by specialist police.
Uddin was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
He was later taken to Campsie police station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.
He was refused bail and is due to face Parramatta Bail Court today.
