- Sea of Conquest is expanding its universe with a new comic book series
- Cradle of the Gods is written by Image comics alumni Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker
- It’ll feature a rotating cast of artists with colours by Michael Woods and letters by Luca Bertelè
Funplus’ hit strategy RPG Sea of Conquest is seeing its first step into the world of transmedia promotion, that’s stuff not directly related to the game for you and me. Now, fans and newcomers to the world of Sea of Conquest alike will be able to experience it through an exciting comic-book series, Cradle of the Gods.
Following the main character, the infamous pirate Henry Hells, accompanied by childhood friends Lavender and Cecily, it charts their voyage across the Devil Seas as they clash with the enigmatic Ancient Order. Cradle of the Gods promises an all-star production staff, with writers Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker, fresh off their work on the series Kill your Darlings at Image Comics.
Art will be provided by a rotating cast, with Michael Woods providing colours and Luca Bertelè taking lettering duties. Meanwhile, issue #1 features gorgeous cover art by Rome-based artist Simone D’Armini.
Into the world of four colours
I admit, I was quite surprised by the debut of this new comic book. As much as Sea of Conquest features some great character designs and a charmingly piratical world, it seems Funplus aren’t content to sit on their laurels, or somewhat iffy YouTube ads. Certainly, a comic book series is an interesting experiment, and a great chance to expand the world of Sea of Conquest without committing to something larger.
