Howden Re has made significant moves to enhance its international reinsurance operations by bringing on two senior executives—Grange Turner and Tom Finch—to lead motor reinsurance and capital solutions from its London office. These appointments are part of Howden’s strategy to expand its broking and advisory services in key markets across the UK, Europe, and North America.
Turner will join Howden Re on Nov. 11 as managing director of international casualty and head of international motor reinsurance. His role will focus on strengthening the company’s motor reinsurance offerings across all casualty lines, with a particular emphasis on the UK and Nordic regions.
He will also collaborate closely with Howden Insurance’s network of UK branches and integrate the company’s telematics platform, Howden Driving Data, into its motor insurance services.
Before joining Howden Re, Turner worked at McGill & Partners as a partner in the treaty reinsurance team. He has also held senior roles at Willis Re and Guy Carpenter, where he handled reinsurance treaties for clients across motor, public and products liability, professional lines, and medical malpractice.
Finch joined Howden Re on Oct. 1 as managing director and head of prospective solutions. He will focus on providing prospective structured reinsurance solutions to clients, working closely with Howden Re’s existing capital solutions teams in Lloyd’s and North America. He will also collaborate with Alex Roth, managing director of capital and operational solutions in Europe.
Finch brings over 17 years of industry experience to his new role, having previously spent 12 years at Swiss Re in various global structured solutions teams and most recently serving as group head of underwriting governance at AXIS Capital.
“Grange’s extensive experience in the motor market and Tom’s expertise in structured reinsurance solutions will play a critical role in expanding Howden’s capabilities and delivering value to our clients in a rapidly changing market,” said Matthew Westerman, head of London at Howden Re International.
