Space weather experts say expect to see more northern lights in unusual places as the sun continues to sizzle. Experts said Tuesday the sun is currently at the maximum phase of its 11-year cycle, making solar surges and northern lights more frequent. They expect this high solar activity to last for at least another year, though they don’t know exactly when solar activity will peak. Strong solar storms this year have triggered shimmering auroras much farther south than usual. More opportunities to glimpse light shows farther south are likely in the coming months.
