Darius quickly got back up and quipped: ‘I’m old as f***.’
Later on during the performance the talented star addressed the stumble.
‘We’ve been doing this all summer,’ he told the crowd. ‘I hadn’t fell once. But I busted my a** in my hometown.’
Earlier this year the frontman revealed that writing his memoir helped him ‘deal with’ the ‘traumas’ of his father’s absence and his brother’s death.
The musician released his new book Life’s Too Short back in May and offered a frank look at his personal troubles.
One of the central issues was his fraught relationship with his father Billy, a traveling musician who was scarcely around during Darius’ upbringing.
Meanwhile, Darius’ brother Ricky battled addictions and went to jail multiple times before he fell, struck his head and died while ‘f***ed up.’
Although Darius previously ‘always told myself I was fine,’ he found that working on his memoir unleashed a flood of emotions to the point that he even ‘caught myself holding back tears’ while recording the audiobook, he told People.

In the book, which was written with Alan Eisenstock, Darius revealed that his father vanished from his life completely for 15 years.
Then, when Darius was riding high on his professional triumphs with Hootie And The Blowfish, Billy got back in touch with him – to ask for $50,000 for a car.
Over the years, Darius suppressed his feelings about Billy, only for them to reemerge when he started putting Life’s Too Short together.
‘When I did write about it, I started thinking about: “Wow, that really affected me a lot more than I thought it did,”‘ the country star shared.
‘Even when I did the audiobook, there were some times where I caught myself holding back tears. Reading those things that affected me so much, but I just pretended they didn’t. It was very therapeutic for me. It helped me,’ he added.
‘My therapist got a lot of work for me writing that book. It brought up a lot of stuff that I wanted to deal with,’ Darius said.
‘Because I hadn’t dealt with those traumas, I just let them go. And now I get to deal with them because I wrote that book, and I think about them.’
His relationship with Ricky also looms large in the memoir, to a degree that ‘surprised’ even Darius while the project was in progress.

‘I knew he affected me, because once I went away to college, I was never coming home because of him. I just didn’t want to be around him,’ said Darius.
‘I always said if I wrote the book, I was going to tell the truth. And I told the truth about him. That was another thing that you have to deal with, that trauma. Watching your older brother with all this potential turn into that was tough. It was traumatic.’
Darius enjoyed a close bond with his single mother Carolyn, a nurse who encouraged his musical ambitions before she died of a heart attack in 1992.

Darius was visiting Woody at the latter’s home in Hawaii, and the pair of them went for a swim in the ocean with their pal Kirk.
Once he was out to sea, Darius found himself being pulled into the deep by a rip current – and could no longer see either Woody, Kirk or the shore.
‘I fight and flail for I have no idea how long – 10 minutes, 15 – and then I hear a voice. Woody. I can’t see him, but I hear him. He’s not far,’ Darius remembered.
Woody caught hold of him, but the current nearly pulled Darius away, and the singer began to hallucinate, seeing ‘a blinding blast of white,’ and also the late Carolyn.
Darius urged Woody to let go of him, saying: ‘This is it,’ but Woody refused and with Kirk’s help managed to ‘drag’ him back to the shore.
