Tech behemoth Amazon was quick to remove a promotional video after a senior executive was recorded wearing a controversial necklace that showed a Palestinian flag across a map of Israel.
Ruba Borno, a vice-president at Amazon Web Services, was filmed for the company’s upcoming AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas and the video was shared to social media last week, reports Jewish Insider.

“The violence and loss of life happening every day in the Middle East is tragic, and at Amazon, our hearts and thoughts are with any person or community that’s affected,” the statement said.
“Our leadership remains in regular contact with our teams based in the region to offer our support. The video shot was not meant to be a political statement, but we’ve taken down the video and will repost a new one in the coming days.”
Borno’s LinkedIn profile, which has since been deleted, said that she was hired by AWS in November 2021, according to Fox Business. She also works as a young global leader for the World Economic Forum. Clicking on her X account also shows that it was deleted.
Borno, who is of Palestinian heritage, left Kuwait with her parents during the 1990 Gulf War. Her family eventually settled in the U.S.
