- Pirate Outlaws 2: Heritage is the sequel to the hit roguelike deckbuilder
- Set in a world of, well, pirates, it’s a fast-paced card game that lets you build a deadly crew
- Coming to Steam, mobile and Epic Games in 2025
Fans of roguelike, pirate-themed, deckbuilder Pirate Outlaws can rejoice. The sequel, announced earlier this year, now has something of a release date as Pirate Outlaws 2: Heritage is set to hit storefronts in 2025. You may remember that the game was first announced back in April, but we finally have an idea when we can start getting our mitts on it.
For one, PC players will be lucky enough to get hands-on early as it’s set to hit limited-access open beta on October 24th. Currently, there’s no sign of early access for iOS and Android, but we do at least know for sure it is coming to handheld, probably at the same time as its mainline release.
Pirate Outlaws needs little introduction as a straightforward roguelike deckbuilder where you craft your perfect crew and set of skills to conquer the high seas. The sequel narrows the focus to a single protagonist, supported by their crewmates, and will see you travel across a massive single map as a number of improvements aim to boost this high-seas sequel even further.
Bring me that horizon
While the earlier Pirate Outlaws flew slightly below the radar for us, Pirate Outlaws 2 looks set to really up the ante for what we can expect. A narrower focus, a single map and a renewed art style all indicate, to me at least, that this will be a much-improved sequel.
Still, there’s a while to go until 2025, so if you’re looking to tide yourself over there’s no better list of what to play than our own ranking of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far).
