PwC Bermuda insurance partner Colm Homan has retired after 31 years with the firm in Ireland and Bermuda.
Homan, who was part of PwC Bermuda’s Assurance practice, primarily dealt with the property and casualty and life insurance and reinsurance sectors and the banking industry.
His particular areas of expertise included corporate governance, regulatory matters / BMA / Solvency II, internal audit and performance improvement.
Homan, who has run all six of the world major marathons raising $200,000 for paediatric cancer, plans to continue to work with the non-profit community in Bermuda, and to run marathons for charity in memory of his son Eoghan.
“My journey at PwC has been incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally,” he said in a LinkedIn post. “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing individuals I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of meeting and working with throughout my career, starting with Coopers & Lybrand in Dublin in 1993 and the moving to PwC in Bermuda in 1999. The collaborative spirit, shared goals, and diverse experiences have made this journey truly remarkable.
“From different clients and teams that I’ve worked with to the different countries and cultures I’ve had the privilege to interact with, each connection has enriched my professional and personal life.”
He added: “I am very much looking forward to the next chapter of my life and to playing an active role in the local community and non-profit sector in Bermuda.
“In the short term, what better way to start retirement than running back to back Major Marathons in Berlin and New York to raise money and awareness for paediatric cancer research at Boston Children’s Hospital in memory of my son Eoghan, a cause very close to my heart.”
Arthur Wightman, territory leader at PwC, said: “Congratulations and thank you Colm Homan for your exceptional career with PwC and for your unwavering commitment to delivering excellence to our people, clients and wider community.
“Your leadership and collegiality have made all the difference and we are very much stronger as a result. I am delighted to see you have just conquered the Berlin marathon (again!) and am looking forward to seeing the same in New York. May your retirement be full of happiness and your continuing advocacy, towards improving paediatric cancer treatment services, be wildly successful.”
PwC Bermuda said on LinkedIn: “For 31 years, Colm has been a cornerstone of our team here at PwC Bermuda, bringing leadership, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a passion for coaching and mentorship. Here’s to a well-deserved retirement. We will miss you!”
