- A Pokémon multiplayer game was leaked as part of the most recent Gamefreak reveals
- Despite being scrubbed we know it was intended to be a multiplatform title
- That means we may’ve had our very first crossover between Nintendo Switch and mobile
Well, it’s about time we covered those Gamefreak leaks. But don’t worry, we’re not digging into bizarre lore or other strangeness, instead, we’re taking a look at purely what we could (or could have) expected from the suite of unannounced games that were shown off. Case in point, a potential cross-platform Pokémon multiplayer game intended to release for Nintendo Switch and mobile.
Unfortunately, while plenty of outlets leapt on the initial reveals, by the time we got to it mere hours later the supporting images and videos have since been scrubbed from the account of original poster Centro leaks. But what we do know is that the game supposedly revolved around riding Pokémon to tame them rodeo style, and had been in development since 2019.
What’s the most interesting part here is that not only was it considered, but also in active development, especially considering the proposed cross-platform play between Nintendo Switch and mobile. Given that Nintendo seems to have been slowly upping the ante when it comes to their mobile presence, alongside Gamefreak, it wouldn’t surprise us if the upcoming Switch 2 could make this a more distinct possibility.
Gotta’ leak ’em all
Indeed, with any leak, it’s important to remember that a huge amount of info is kept private for a reason, mainly related to the fact that there’s no guarantee it would be used or intended for public consumption. So will we see this Pokémon game get an official announcement sometime soon? I wouldn’t bet on it, considering a follow-up supposedly confirms the game (possibly named Rhodeo) was indeed cancelled according to the original leaker.
Still, there are plenty of games from this iconic series that actually are currently available. So if you want to get started, why not check out our definitive ranking of all the currently available Pokémon games?
