With how stressful and frantic life is nowadays, it should be no surprise that people are constantly looking for new ways to endure the trials and tribulations of life by relaxing. And WITH Island seems to be sure to offer what you want, with a series of relaxing idle minigames. But is there more to it? Well, let’s dig in.
With its lavish pastel-pink aesthetic, and inclusion of things like whale song, WITH Island certainly carries that relaxation credo to its limit. You’ll be able to explore the titular island, creating and customising your own character while making friends with cuddly animals and whiling away the hours with idle games. So far so good.
Now, why am I sceptical? Well, for one it possesses all of the hallmarks of something that seems good on the surface but isn’t quite as pure as it seems. I know in-app purchases and other microtransactions are common, but it still puts a bit of a sour taste in my mouth to see a game profess to be so vague about how much it actually requires of you.
No such thing as a free lunch
Yeah I know, I’m being a bit suspicious. But I do prefer to have everything be clear from the get-go. It may just be translation issues that make WITH Island come across as so saccharine, and I hope that’s the case because if it does live up to those promises I’m sure it’ll be a favourite of those looking to unwind.
