James Jordan returned to social media on Saturday night to deliver his unfiltered commentary about the Strictly Come Dancing pairings. The professional dancer, 46, hit out at the show’s judges’ scoring this year, saying, “Is the standard so bad?”
It comes after EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick took to the dancefloor with his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas with a scary American Smooth to The Addams Family Theme by Vic Mizzy.
The impressive routine surprised the show judges. Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke gave the dancing duo a score of nine, while Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas gave them a perfect 10.
James took to X, formerly Twitter, and penned: “Just switched Strictly on, and the judges just gave 9 10 10 9 for a dance that any other year would have been an 8 MAX – is the standard so bad this year??? As I haven’t watched any since first week.”
Viewers flocked to comment on the post as some claimed the contestants are being “overmarked”.
@Ian_banham said: “I was thinking to myself wow my marks are low!”
James replied: “Its strange mate.”
@helenmlclark wrote: “In my view the judging scores have not equates to their critique. Glad you are back watching and offering a view.”
@fifi_1992 said: “It’s been like that for weeks. I’m flabbergasted.”
@costalalossie shared: “Totally agree. Many overmarked this week. Lots of faffing. Getting beyond a joke.”
@dennydenton3 said: “Scoring is terrible this year.”
@Evelynsmin fumed: “Jamie has been massively overmarked for 3 weeks in a row. We GET you want him in the final #strictly.
@chiliandy tweeted: “Lots of overmarking today #strictly.”
Others disagreed with James as @LesleyHatton6 hit back: Stop being so negative.”
While @lozza060516 added: “There is no one that is wow this year except Chris achieving what he has. Rose and Gio’s Halloween was way above any of these dances tonight.”
On Saturday night, the Strictly couples returned with thrilling performances to mark the Halloween special.
