A soap star has been apprehended on suspicion of child sex offences following claims of abusing five teenage boys.
The actor’s residence was searched by police this month amid historic paedophile allegations from the 1990s, a time when he featured in popular shows with some of the UK’s most renowned actors.
His identity remains undisclosed. The actor was taken into custody and later released on bail after several hours. It is said to have left his family, including his partner, reeling from the shocking accusations, which he denies.
The actor, notable for significant roles on television, maintains his innocence and has been bailed after several hours in detention.
A police spokesperson told The Sun: “Officers investigating allegations relating to the 1990s detained a man.
“He was arrested on suspicion of several sexual offences relating to five men who were teenage boys at the time of the alleged offending. He has been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue.”
During the search of his home, authorities are said to have confiscated computers and documents before arresting him on suspicion of sex crimes against the five teens.
The investigation is focused on gathering evidence linked to the alleged abuse of five victims by the unnamed soap celebrity, reports the Mirror.
