It was the night the lights went out at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Just as the Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues were wrapping up their warmup to face off on Tuesday night, the rink lost power and the start of the game was briefly delayed.
The lights flickered twice, and Senators officials had reached out to representatives of Hydro Ottawa to find out what happened.

The rink does have a backup generator in place so it wasn’t completely dark, but it took time to get light back on the concourse and reboot the scoreboard so the Senators could host the Blues.
The club is expected the puck to drop at 7:30 p.m. and the regional television broadcast on TSN5 also had to be delayed. The players took the ice at 7:23 p.m.
A statement from Hydro Ottawa posted on the social media platform X stated they were aware of the outage and that 3,411 customers were affected.
“The impacted wards are Kanata North, Kanata South and Stittsville, including the Sens game,” Hydro Ottawa said. “Our crews have been dispatched. We are working quickly and as safely as we can to reinstate power to the area.”
