American pop band Maroon 5 are headed to India for their first public concert in Mumbai on Dec. 3, 2024.
The Grammy-winning, chart-topping act led by vocalist and songwriter Adam Levine will perform at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on their way to performing as part of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s Yasalam After-Race concert the same week. Exclusive Pre-Sale of tickets for Kotak Credit Card customers will begin on Nov. 6, 2024 at 12 pm on BookMyShow. General sale of tickets will go live starting Nov. 8, 2024 at 2 pm on the platform.
An announcement for Maroon 5’s India concert was teased by BookMyShow yesterday, using their 2014 song “Maps.” Since their album Songs About Jane in 2002, Maroon 5 – currently comprising Levine, guitarist-keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist P.J. Morton and bassist Sam Farrar – earned global fame. Their top songs that flittered between pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop include “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Animals,” “Girls Like You” featuring rapper Cardi B, “Moves Like Jagger” and “Payphone,” among others. The band released their most recent album – Jordi – in June 2021.
Maroon 5 have had a few brushes with India in the past, including being rumored to perform as early as 2015 in Bengaluru as part of their Asia tour. The band eventually did make it down in 2019, however, but that was for a private concert performing at the reception of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta in Mumbai.
In September, the band announced they were heading on an Asia tour starting Jan. 29, 2025 and hitting up countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan.
The concert is produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live in partnership with Live Nation. BookMyShow Live are already bringing down the likes of Coldplay in January 2025, plus Lollapalooza India in March 2025 featuring punk rock favorites Green Day, pop artists Shawn Mendes, Louis Tomlinson and pop-rock band Glass Animals, among others. More closer is the second edition of their rock and metal festival Bandland, which takes place on Nov. 23 and 24 in Bengaluru and is headlined by American rock band Extreme and hard rock/metal act Avenged Sevenfold.
BookMyShow live events chief of business Owen Roncon said in a statement, “At BookMyShow Live, our mission has always been to bring world-class entertainment experiences to Indian audiences and cement India’s place on the global entertainment map. Maroon 5 is one of the foremost and most loved bands globally, across generations and bringing them to India for the very first time marks a thrilling milestone for us. Their music has transcended boundaries and cultures and we’re ecstatic to give Indian fans the unforgettable experience of seeing them live on home soil.”
