- Relive the OVERLORD anime in Lord of Nazarick
- Enjoy stunning visuals during turn-based battles
- “Devil in Love” Albedo is now available
In case you missed it, Lord of Nazarick, a turn-based RPG based on the OVERLORD anime, recently launched for iOS and Android courtesy of Crunchyroll and A PLUS, and it’s been garnering well deserved praise from critics and OVERLORD fans alike.
Here we present the second part of our deep dive into the features which have made its launch a success. So without further ado, here are even more reasons you should give Lord of Nazarick a try.
A thrilling introduction
When starting up Lord of Nazarick for the first time, players will be treated to a gorgeous cut-scene in which Momonga is summoned into battle. Teaming up with his faithful guardian Albedo, players are handed in-game control of Momonga to swiftly deal with his overmatched opponent.
It’s a quick and easy introduction to Lord of Nazarick’s turn-based battle mechanics and dazzling attack animations, and from there you swiftly move on to the main narrative. It’s always refreshing when a game shows you what to expect right off the bat, and Lord of Nazarick does exactly that.

Fans of the OVERLORD anime will be pleased to see that key story beats from the first season haven’t been missed – Lord of Nazarick deftly blends them in with its early tutorial stages to keep the action moving. It also dials back on some of the more – ahem – risque aspects of the anime (OVERLORD fans who recall Momonga’s first interaction with Albedo will understand) so it doesn’t get too awkward.
Spectacular visuals
It must be said that when it comes to the visuals, the developers had a perfect starting point as OVERLORD is a truly beautiful anime. However, that same advantage can also spell disaster if the visuals fail to meet the same high standards.
Thankfully, Lord of Nazarick meets those standards and more! Experiencing the striking visual design of the anime in a full 3D setting is a treat that will make you want to explore every inch of the game’s iconic locations.
Seeing fan favourite characters faithfully recreated will definitely impress fans. But the most impressive visuals are saved for the battles, especially when executing a character’s Ultimate Skills which deliver stunning dynamic effects and beautifully choreographed animations.
Fantastic new character additions
Given the sheer breadth of content and characters featured in OVERLORD, much has been made of the developer’s promise to regularly roll out new characters and event updates.
The early signs are looking rather promising; less than a week after launch, Lord of Nazarick is kicking off its first, limited-time, summoning event with the introduction of a new Albedo variant: “Devil in Love” Albedo.
Albedo is arguably the most beloved character in the OVERLORD franchise, charming fans with her obsessive devotion to Momonga (a result of Momonga prankishly altering her personality before Yggdrasil shut down) whilst thrilling them with her demonic second form which makes her cruel, cunning, and savage.
Belonging to the Ranger class and dealing high burst DMG on surrounding enemies, “Devil in Love” Albedo is a great asset to have on your team, and a promising indicator of future characters to come.
Variety of gameplay
All RPGs thrive on their ability to deliver variety, and Lord of Nazarick comes stacked with more than most. Whenever you feel like taking a break from the main story mode, you can take on roguelike dungeons, boss challenges, mini-games and more.
You can also form your own legendary alliance with friends, just like the renowned Ainz Ooal Gown. Alternatively, you can join an existing alliance and take on powerful enemies as a team.
Naturally enough, if you can join with other players then you can also fight them. Lord of Navarick features a PvP mode that allows you to challenge other players with your strongest lineup, climb the leaderboard, and earn rewards for your victories.
We must admit that we’ve only enjoyed Lord of Nazarick for a short time so there may be many more reasons that we’ve overlooked. But the only way to know for sure is to try Lord of Nazarick for yourself!
If you feel like giving it a try, you can find Lord of Nazarick available to download for free from the App Store and Google Play.
