Nov. 7—A 51-year-old Odessa man was killed early Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while walking near West University Boulevard and FM 1936.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Joel Tijerina was walking south across the westbound lanes of West University around 1:15 a.m. when he failed to yield the right of way and was hit by a GMC Yukon driven by a 54-year-old Odessa woman.
Tijerina was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver of the Yukon wasn’t hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
