The award-winning, quirky car-running(?) platformer What the Car? is getting a major new update. And as you might expect, it’s pretty out there. Out of this world in fact, as Cows in Space drops today for Apple Arcade and Steam. When Car (y’know, from the title) gets abducted by space cows it’s up to you to guide him home.
The update includes five new levels with gravitational physics to mix up the usual action, a new environment, two sets of building blocks for the level creator and a whole lot more. The update launches today for all currently available versions of the game, so check it out!
What the Car? has consistently been one of the best games on Apple Arcade from what I’ve seen, and it’s not hard to see why. From the quirky concept to the smooth and exciting gameplay, this is one title I wish was available a little bit further afield.
Off the rails
Of course for some the quirkiness of What the Car? may be a bit overwhelming. This is, after all a platformer where the core conceit is you play a car with legs, and the addition of astral-bound bovine may be pushing it a bit too far for some. But at the same time, it’s hard to deny that there are at least a few chuckles to be had from the ideas.
