Amherstburg’s annual River Lights Winter Festival will shine a little brighter this holiday season thanks to the continued support of Enbridge.
For the eleventh consecutive year, the company is sponsoring the festival’s decoration of historic Amherstburg throughout November and December.
“It’s great to be a part of the community,” supervisor of solar operations Ian Robertson told the Windsor Star.

“This partnership is a natural fit for us, giving Enbridge the opportunity to give back and share in the holiday spirit alongside the Amherstburg community we’re honoured to serve.”
Enbridge — one of Canada’s largest renewable energy companies — presented a cheque for $22,000 to the town on Thursday at the Gordon House.
Since 2006, the festival has annually filled King’s Navy Yard Park and Toddy Jones Park with hundreds of solar-powered winter-themed light displays and family-oriented activities.
“With Enbridge’s generous sponsorship, we are proud to continue the tradition our town has come to know and love, promoting the brilliant and dazzling light displays which have become a signature backdrop in historic Amherstburg,” said Mayor Michael Prue.
The festival’s opening night is coming up on Nov. 16, starting with the Essex Region Conservation Authority’s (ERCA) Super Santa Run/Walk/Wheel at 5 p.m.
The municipal tree lighting will follow at 6 p.m. with fireworks to illuminate the night sky.
“This donation (allows us) to host the event at the scale that it has been at over the last several years,” said deputy chief administrator Melissa Osborne. “This donation contributes directly to the fireworks and the investments made for the warming house.”
