LaSalle police and fire service personnel retrieved the body of a man from the Detroit River Wednesday morning near Fighting Island.
Officers arrived on scene at approximately 9 a.m. after receiving a report of a body floating in the river off Fighting Island, across from LaSalle.
Investigators travelled by boat to retrieve the body.
The man’s identity and the circumstances around his death are unknown but police continue to investigate.
Officials said information may be released at a later date as it becomes available or if public assistance is required.
