Well, as we barrel full-force towards the weekend, you may have your eye open for something to take up your time. And while you could leap into one of the many ARPGs or shooters holding some festive seasonal events, may I humbly suggest giving today’s subject, Miniatures, a go?
This collection of four short stories is essentially an interactive storybook based around brief puzzles. Coming to us from BAFTA-nominated developer Other Tales, it’s already accrued quite the reaction from the media. As you open an old wooden box, you’ll discover four different worlds with captivating stories, shifting environments and more as this artist-led anthology shows you the world from a child’s perspective.
Our own Jupiter Hadley gave Miniatures a glowing review and a certified Gold rating. And while I’d definitely temper your expectations a bit – this is a roughly hour-long title after all – it clearly resonates very well thanks to a mix of beautiful art and truly intriguing storytelling.

I’ve got some mixed feelings on Miniatures, but at the same time, I’d also admit that’s fully my own opinion, and extremely subjective at that. However, if you’re the kind of person who likes hardcore action, flashy effects or otherwise attention-grabbing gameplay, I reckon this short but engaging series of stories may not be your cup of tea.
But for those of you who do want to take a bit of a walk on the wild side and try out something interesting and new, Miniatures won’t take up too much of your time and seems perfect for a cold morning or afternoon to curl up and while away a few hours on.
