Capcom’s acclaimed horror classic is making a return to the palm of your hand as Resident Evil 2 is set to launch on Apple’s latest devices next month. Reimagined for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models, along with any iPad or Mac featuring the M1 chip or newer, the iconic and freaky survival experience is coming back to take you on Leon and Claire’s journey.
Resident Evil 2 follows rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield as they attempt to survive a city overrun by zombies. Set amidst the outbreak of a deadly virus, this intense narrative immerses you in an unforgiving, suspense-filled environment. You may be familiar with the streets of Raccoon City, but this mobile version promises a whole new experience.
Originally built on the RE ENGINE, Resident Evil 2 reinterprets the original 1998 title with richer graphics, enhanced audio, and modernized controls, bringing Raccoon City’s eerie atmosphere to life. Plus, with Universal Purchase and cross-progression, you’ll be able to seamlessly pick up right where you left off across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Capcom has incorporated numerous improvements specifically designed for iPhone and iPad as well. The Auto Fire feature will automatically shoot at enemies after a short delay once you aim at them, which is something great for newcomers. And if you want a more traditional feel, RE2 supports various controllers as well.

Alongside Resident Evil 2, other well-known entries in the series, like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard, are already available for Apple devices. Apple’s been upping the ante in the gaming sphere with powerhouses like Death Stranding making it to iOS as well. I’m excited to see what other AAA titles make their way to the new lineup of iPhones and iPads.
Resident Evil 2 is set to release on December 10th on the App Store. If you want a taste, a part of the story is free to download, while the full story will require a purchase.
