Democratic New York state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton tore into “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg’s “self-centered” attack on a New York City bakery early Saturday on “Fox and Friends Weekend.”
Goldberg claimed Wednesday on “The View” that Holtermann’s Bakery snubbed her cupcake order over her leftist politics. However, the bakery’s owner said in a press conference Friday that a boiler plate issue prevented her business from meeting Goldberg’s order.
Scarcella-Stanton slammed Goldberg’s “ridiculous” accusations over delayed cupcakes.
“I think it was such a ridiculous thing to do. Inserting herself into a conversation about a local business and coming after a business, especially as a celebrity, can be incredibly dangerous. But the Staten Island community comes together,” she said.
“It was really self-serving, very self-centered. Businesses aren’t thinking about Whoopi Goldberg, they’re thinking about how to make sure they get out the best pastries as you see them right on the screen in front of you, they were able to get them,” Scarcella-Stanton continued as footage of Goldberg with several cupcakes played on the screen beside her.
“So, instead of focusing on something positive, she made it about herself,” Scarcella-Stanton said. (RELATED: ‘Try Making Too Woke Be A Cancelable Offense’: Bill Maher Blasts Democrats For Left’s ‘Problem In A Nutshell’)
Proud to stand with Holtermann’s Bakery after it was slandered by Whoopi Goldberg on @TheView. The type of elitism and ignorance demonstrated by her on her show is the reason why our nation has become so polarized. pic.twitter.com/YKxonoEeSY

The New York state lawmaker revealed she is a customer at Holtermann’s Bakery. She told Fox News co-host Joey Jones, who was sitting in for Trump defense secretary appointee Pete Hegseth, that business at the bakery was “booming” after the incident.
“I always tell people, I’m a Democrat. I’m a normal Democrat. Holtermann’s never refused to serve me. They just had a boiler issue,” she said.
