A 36-year-old man is in custody after being hit with a Taser by a Regina police officer.
On Saturday afternoon, police interrupted a man who was trying to break into a home on the 1000 block of Edgar Street in Regina’s Eastview neighbourhood.
Police say the man then “became aggressive (and) was violent with police, ignored commands and assaulted one of the officers.”

At that point, police used the Taser on the man, who was then arrested and taken into custody.
Police say the man was assessed by ambulance staff because of his “agitated and violent state,” but he was not injured.
The man’s first court appearance has been scheduled for Monday morning in Regina provincial court. He faces charges of mischief under $5000, disarming a peace officer and assault with intent to resist arrest.
Police policy requires that any use of a Taser by an officer be publicly announced, with the incident reviewed to determine if the use of force was appropriate.
