- Globs is an interesting new puzzler where you play as, well, globs
- Move, contract and expand these creatures to gather stars
- Navigate increasingly complex, but approachable levels
Sometimes we talk about how indies on mobile are sorely underrepresented. And to rectify that, one thing we try to do is highlight those releases that might otherwise fly under the radar. All of which is to say that today’s subject, Globs, is an interesting new puzzler that’ll have you scratching your head, but itching for more.
In this indie puzzler, previously developed for the 2024 GMTK Game Jam, you move, contract and expand the titular globs to navigate levels. It sounds simple, but like any good puzzler, it’s all about the slowly growing complexity of levels and navigating them.
Boasting a lively pixel art aesthetic and plenty of colours to cheer up a drab winter, you can find Globs on itch.io, or download it directly from Google Play. With an original soundtrack, over 40 levels and optional challenges for experienced players, it promises to offer plenty of bang (gloop?) for your buck.
Stretch and strain
I often talk about how the best of mobile are those that remind me of the good old days when Adobe Flash was the premiere venue for interesting releases. Globs is one of those new puzzlers I could see dominating the front page on Miniclip and being a favourite of mine during IT. Being able to play it on the go whenever you like, I think, shows the strength of mobile, and hopefully by highlighting Globs we’ll bring more than a few sceptical players onboard to try it out.
And once you’re done with Globs, why not check out some of the other great puzzlers out there on mobile? Our constantly updated list of the top 25 best puzzle games on iOS is sure to offer something for everyone, no matter your level of skill or experience when it comes to unravelling each challenge.
