Movie lovers, rejoice!
Landmark Cinemas opened a new premium theatre in south Windsor on Wednesday, offering visitors the “ultimate experience” from comfort — recliners, heated seats, loungers and more — to cutting-edge film technology.
The first thing movie-lovers see walking into the sleek new Landmark Cinemas is a row of huge images showcasing some of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

Three portraits — one of Margot Robbie from Barbie, another of Russell Crowe in Gladiator, and a third of Zendaya in Dune — are among the new features the movie theatre has to offer.
“What we have built here is truly revolutionary for cinema,” said Dave Cohen, president of the Calgary-based company. “We’re really excited to get this opportunity to bring a second cinema to Windsor.”
The theatre boasts eight auditoriums all equipped with recliner seats, wide walkways between rows, laser projectors with 4K capabilities, and a Dolby Atmos sound system to provide specific sound placement.
“Our premier seats include a wraparound enclosure for privacy, side tables, a cubby for storage, and a coat hook,” Cohen told the Windsor Star.
“The best is that they’re heated — It’s truly a luxurious experience.”
Each auditorium also includes loungers in the first two rows that are similar to beds but recline to give guests a view of the entire screen.
Another new feature is the Luxe Cinema auditorium, which offers exclusive premiere seating and is designated for guests aged 18 years and older.

The theatre scaled down from about 1,200 seats to 700 to provide a more intimate experience for moviegoers.
Over $10 million was invested to renovate the former SilverCity theatre that closed in 2022 after roughly 25 years in operation. The building also suffered significant vandalism while it sat unused for almost three years.
“We’ve completely gutted the entire thing and redone it from the ground up,” Cohen told the Windsor Star. “Only the structure is the same — everything else is different, even in the lobby area.
“Landmark Cinemas prides itself, and is committed to, delivering the ultimate moviegoing experience for movie lovers.”
The Windsor location marks the company’s 37th cinema in Canada.
“We’ve got a great slate of movies that are going to make people really happy and they’re going to see it in the best possible experience,” Cohen said.

General admission tickets are $12.99 for ages 14 to 64. Children aged three to 13 are $8.99 and seniors 65 and over are $9.99.
Landmark’s opening week lineup of films include the Wizard of Oz-themed movie Wicked and Gladiator 2.
