Police are trying to track down a white SUV that fled the scene of a now-fatal hit-and-run late last week in Scarborough.

Toronto Police said in a news release issued late Saturday night that the pedestrian who was struck in that collision — a 71-year-old man — died of his injuries in a hospital this weekend.

Police said they responded to the crash on Thursday at about 11:50 p.m. in the Kennedy Rd.-McNicoll Ave. area of north Scarborough.
A white Cadillac Escalade travelling westbound on McNicoll turned left onto Kennedy and collided with the pedestrian before fleeing the scene.
“The driver and the white Cadillac Escalade remain outstanding,” Const. Laurie McCann said. “The investigation is ongoing by members of traffic services.”

Fashion District shooting probed
Police are investigating the shooting of a man early Sunday in the Fashion District.
Toronto Police said on X that officers responded to a shooting at Brant and King Sts. at 4:20 a.m. and found a man with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was then transported to a hospital.

Cops make arrest after violent sexual assaults in Brampton, Vaughan
The person accused of what police say were violent sexual assaults in Brampton and Vaughan is now in custody.
Peel Regional Police said in a social media update that tips from the public helped lead to the arrest of a suspect.
On Nov. 17, police published a news release and video in English about the alleged sexual assaults.
“As more information became available, a decision was made to release a second video in Punjabi on Nov. 19, 2024, to further our public safety efforts,” police said in a statement shared to X.
According to police, on Nov. 16 at 6:45 a.m., a 21-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop at Airport Rd. and Humberwest Pkwy. in Brampton when she was offered a ride by a man unknown to her.
After getting into the vehicle, police alleged, the woman was taken to the area of Countryside Dr. and Airport Rd. where she was sexually assaulted.
Investigators also alleged the same suspect sexual assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Brampton on Nov. 8 and another victim in Vaughan in a separate attack.
Police have warned the public to not accept unsolicited rides from anyone unknown to them.
Cops said more information about the arrest will be made available at a later date.
