Premier Scott Moe’s Saskatchewan Party government is to outline its priorities in a throne speech today — a month after the Oct. 28 election delivered the party a slimmer majority in the legislature.
Moe says his government plans to start working on affordability issues, including a promise to reduce personal income tax rates.
The provincial government also plans to address problems in education, health care and community safety.

“I am pleased to join the Lieutenant Governor today as my fellow members and I share the honour of representing our constituents across the province,” Moe said Monday in a statement.
“Today marks the beginning of a new session in which we will strive to collectively serve the citizens of Saskatchewan as their Legislative Assembly.”
The Saskatchewan Party heads into the 61-seat legislature with 34 members, facing a larger 27-member Opposition under NDP Leader Carla Beck.
Beck, whose party gained ground in Saskatoon and Regina after the election, says she will press Moe to suspend the provincial gas tax and fix health care.
She says her party plans to introduce an emergency motion that would give Moe a Wednesday deadline to pause the gas tax.
Lieutenant-Governor Russ Mirasty will be greeted by Moe outside the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday and together they will perform traditional ceremonies to mark the opening day of the first session of the 30th legislature.
“The opening of the Legislature is a historic occasion that offers opportunities to witness our parliamentary traditions up close,” Mirasty said Monday in a news release.

“I encourage everyone to come out to get a glimpse of the pageantry of the day and to learn more about our system of governance.”
The ceremony will be followed by the throne speech inside the legislative assembly, which will be delivered by Mirasty.
Since 1906, the opening of the Legislative Assembly has taken place to mark each session.
