Re: Temporary GST holiday on some groceries, Nov. 22
Isn’t it wonderful to receive a break on the cost of certain toys and candies from our Liberal-NDP government? That will really help my family pay our mortgage and fill our bellies with healthy, nutritious food.
But I do have a question: How in the world are stores going to differentiate between these specific items and non-eligible items at the cash register? They’re going to have to scramble to modify their inventory system to make that distinction in their cash registers, with only a week to do so. This will likely cost them a lot of money as they will need extra hours or staff to enter these items in the computer.
Of course, the stores will simply pass these costs on to consumers by raising prices on other items or by raising prices across the board once the “gift period” has expired.

As is usually the case in these inflationary times, once those prices are up, they will never come down. Could it be these geniuses didn’t think it through?
As for me, all I want for Christmas is an election.

STILL PLAYING SHELL GAMES
Re: Temporary GST holiday on some groceries, Nov. 22
A Christmas Story?
So Ebenezer Trudeau and Kris tia Scrooge will be placing temporary presents under the tree by removing tax on certain items, only to replace it with a lump of coal in 60 days?
These two shell-game artists have been trying to bribe us with our own money for years now while following some unattainable climate change star. Spoiler alert: The Three Wise Men will not be found under this Yuletide-lit Liberal circus tent.

Re: Temporary GST holiday on some groceries, Nov. 22
Justin Trudeau’s giving us a cheque for a couple hundred dollars and removing the GST for two months on certain items? Whoop de doo.
All he would have to do is take back the $5.3 billion he’s giving to a global climate fund to help developing countries adapt to climate change and it would pay for all of that.
A perfect example of why he’s great at math. He divides the country, subtracts jobs, multiples misery and adds debt.
