If you’re looking to give your home theater’s audio section a bit of a boost, but don’t feel like spending $700 on something like the Sonos Arc, you might consider this Cyber Monday deal on the LG S70TY soundbar, which is on sale for its lowest price ever. Usually $349.99, this 37.5-inch soundbar and wireless subwoofer combo is on sale for just $246.99 at Amazon, offering plenty of power and some great features that are surprising to see at this relatively low price point, such as its upward-firing center speaker for Dolby Atmos support.
The S70TY features forward-firing speakers, plus the aforementioned upward-firing speaker located on its top, which is utilized to add a sense of verticality (birds chirping, planes flying overhead, bullets whizzing around you) in movies, TV shows, and games that support Dolby Atmos. Even in content or in video games that don’t explicitly support Atmos, everything should sound better through this soundbar thanks to this little center speaker. And, when combined with its included wireless subwoofer, this soundbar is more than capable of delivering booming, immersive audio for most medium-sized rooms.
If you’re using this soundbar for a larger room, or you’d like to expand the spatial audio to include rear channels, LG also offers a pair of wireless speakers that are compatible with the S70TY, although these are currently only available at full price. Lastly, according to a Polygon staffer who owns the S70TY, you’ll need to use LG’s legacy Soundbar mobile app to upgrade its firmware, after which it will be compatible with LG’s ThinQ mobile app.
