It’s a busy time for Travelmarvel, the sister brand to APT, with river cruising vessel Rigel to take to European rivers in 2026, alongside Capella, Vega, and Polaris which all launched in 2022.
Travelmarvel is also returning to French river cruising in 2025, ending a nine-year hiatus. Travelmarvel is an APT group premium brand offering flexibility across river and small ship cruising as well as land tours.
The return won’t be on one of Travelmarvel’s own ships, but via a charter of the MS Van Gogh, a ship that aligns with a commitment to comfort and authenticity, says APT group chief executive David Cox.
Gastronomy is a significant feature on this one-time charter, as is likely with any visit to foodie France.
“The menus onboard are crafted in the tradition of French gastronomy, guided by head chef Alain Bohn, a member of the esteemed ‘Master Chefs of France’ and ‘Chaine des Rotisseurs’, an international gastronomic society,” Cox says.
Travelmarvel’s culinary team has further collaborated with the kitchens of the MS Van Gogh to highlight Rhone Valley produce, regional dishes, and local wines.
Food highlights of the Romantic Rhone tour include tastings of local produce at Lyon’s indoor food market, Les Halles de Lyon – Paul Bocuse, where 48 vendors include providores of note.
“People love food, especially on holiday – and even more so these days. With social media and all the food shows online and on TV, everyone has a better sense of what’s out there,” says Cox.
