One of Hollywood’s most surprising couples, Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter, have reportedly called it quits after one year together.
The Saltburn actor, 32, and chart-topping singer, 25, were first romantically linked in December 2023 when they were spotted on a romantic dinner together.
But only a year later, after a high-profile relationship which has included music videos, break-up rumours and loving words for one another – it appears the pair may have split ways.
A source told People: ‘They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.’
At the start of this year speculation increased as the pair were spotted on various date-like activities together, before appearing together at a Grammy’s after party in February.
Later that month, the Irish actor commented a queen emoji under Sabrina’s Instagram post of her guest appearance at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
After this the loved-up couple were regularly seen together – such as at Coachella – dropping clear hints they were romantically involved including Barry’s beaded bracelet which spelt out Sabrina.
After reportedly throwing the Espresso hitmaker a surprise 25th birthday party attended by over 100 guests, the pair broke the internet when Barry starred in Sabrina’s music video, Please Please Please as the main love interest.
During the course of their time together, Sabrina praised the Peaky Blinders movie star as ‘one of the best actors of this generation’ and said they were astrologically aligned, per Variety.
Although the star-studded couple have never explicitly confirmed their romance, there has been reports of relationship trouble since August when People first shared they were ‘on and off’.
One source claimed to The Sun that the music artist was ‘fed up’ of Barry’s behaviour when drunk.
Barry’s own relationship history has been cast under the spotlight since being linked with Sabrina.
Before Sabrina, Barry was in a long-term relationship with Alyson Sandro and the pair share one child together who was born in August 2022.
The couple reportedly parted ways after ‘growing apart’ but neither have publicly commented.
In November he addressed online trolls who had labelled him a ‘deadbeat dad’.
He told The Louis Theroux Podcast: ‘People kind of have a judgment on me as a parent, and I’m like, “Well, until you’ve walked a day in my shoes growing up as a kid… then you can comment”.’
The screenstar, who grew up without a father figure, strongly refuted the accusations that he was an ‘absent father’.
He continued: ‘If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength, I wouldn’t be sitting here. [But], of course, it’s going to affect me.
‘Being a father when I had no blueprint to take from, people just read that as laziness and go, “Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.”‘
Professionally, Barry is looking toward his starring role in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie, also starring Cillian Murphy.
He plays a mysterious new character, although he has been spotted on set with Sophie Rundle and Tim Roth – wearing the period specific clothing.
Meanwhile, child star turned artist Sabrina has enjoyed a massively successful year with several of her songs dominating the charts as she performed a sell-put live tour.
