Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will unveil a large painting of the Anubhava Mantapa, a 12th century spiritual centre in Basava Kalyan where discussions, including political, were gone through, will be unveiled at the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on the first day of the Winter Session of the legislature on Monday.
This is to commemorate Anubhava Mantap being the first Parliament in the country.
Speaker U.T. Khadar, who had a glimpse of the painting here on Sunday, said that “the image will inspire us all towards re-establishing the fundamental principles of democracy and those of a just and equal society.”
The 200 sq ft image is of the spiritual centre as imagined by a group of artists. It depicts Saint Allama Prabhu, chairman of the mantap, Sri Basaveshwara, Akka Mahadevi, Madara Channayya, Ambigara Choudaiah, Siddarameshwara and Madiwala Machideva and other major Sharanas of the 12th century in the middle of an animated discussion.
The group of artists includes Satish Rao, Shrikant Hegde from Siddapur, Ashok U., Rupa M.R., Veeranna Madivalappa Babli and Mahesh Ningappa from various parts of the State.
The painting was commissioned by chairman of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat B.L. Shankar, officers said.
