I’m A Celebrity’s Coleen Rooney has addressed claims she is poised to sign an huge £1,000,000 TV deal with ITV after her success in the jungle.
The Wagatha Christie star, 38, was runner-up on the long-running reality show after winner McFly star Danny Jones, also 38.
While she wasn’t proclaimed champion, Coleen was nonetheless a hit with viewers, angering Rebekah Vardy, 42, who said she was on a ‘stress diet.’
Her warm persona also reportedly caught the attention of ITV bigwigs, who believe she has the ‘girl-next-door charm of someone like Holly Willoughby.’
However, when asked by Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley if she had agreed a TV deal with ITV, Coleen shut it down.
She did, though, tease it could be in the pipeline as she would ‘sit down with her team’ in January to explore options.
On the rumoured £1million contract, Coleen said: ‘That’s news to me. I haven’t got a clue. Apart from speaking to Wayne and my boys, I haven’t seen anything and I don’t intend to until I get back to the UK.
‘I’m looking forward to Christmas and then in January I will sit down with my team and see what I’m going to do going forward.’
After Coleen missed out on being queen of the jungle, many viewers went on X to express their disappointment.
Among them was @clo_innit, who wrote: ‘I love danny but coleen was robbed #imacelebrity2024.’
Echoing their sentiment, @SaraDatez said: ‘Veryyyyy Upset, he literally did nothing in there, Colleen was robbbed!!! #imacelebrity #imaceleb #imacelebrity2024.’
@RG4V02 commented: ‘Those saying Coleen wouldn’t make a worthy winner because she’s been “boring” mustn’t have watched Giovanna Fletcher win. When did being a general nice and pleasant person make someone unworthy of winning? Coleen has been a pleasure to watch. Humble throughout. #ImACeleb.’
@EmmaLiveseyadded: ‘For those who say #Coleen is “boring”, I’’m 1 of the many voting for her. I like seeing a stoic woman, devoted mother, grounded (regardless of wealth) women, who isn’t a problematic, airtime hungry, bully (like former WAG contestants). Her realness has won our hearts.’
A source previously claimed to The Sun that offers had been pouring in for Coleen after her I’m A Celebrity stint, including TV work, lifestyle and nutritional brands and high street retailer.
They said: ‘Coleen’s return to public life following the Wagatha Christie trial was carefully orchestrated — and it has more than paid off.
‘When she was in the jungle, she was being touted as ITV’s next Holly Willoughby and the offers have already started flooding in.
‘Given Coleen’s love of the Loose Women show too, the team want her secured on their guest roster, with a view to finding something more permanent for her.’
On I’m A Celebrity, Coleen won viewers over with moments including her emotional reunion with sons Kit and Cass and her mother Colette, her no nonsense approach to Bushtucker Trials and candid revelations about her relationship with Wayne.
I’m A Celebrity is available to stream on ITVX.
