The curtain fell on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last night, with emotions running high as one star dabbed away tears and another celeb returns to deliver a shockingly supportive message.
Coleen Rooney, aged 38, was pipped to the post by McFly’s Danny Jones in the grand finale of the beloved ITV reality series.
Despite not securing the title of Queen of the Jungle, Coleen might be returning to an unexpected peace offering following a surprising show of support from her adversary.
Following the notorious Wagatha Christie court case in 2022, it’s been no secret that Rebekah Vardy and Coleen have been at odds. Yet, in a twist that could signal a thawing of relations, Rebekah extended a supportive hand to Coleen with a positive shout-out in her final I’m A Celebrity commentary, mere hours after the show concluded its 24th season.
Rebekah has been penning a column for The Sun, dishing out her thoughts on each episode, and despite occasionally jabbing at Coleen, many braced for a biting remark when Coleen finished as runner-up. Contrary to expectations, Rebekah opted for grace over grit, reports the Mirror.
In a brief clip posted on the publication’s website, Rebekah reviewed the finale, expressing to viewers that Reverend Richard Coles, who came third, is her “absolute favourite campmate of all time.”
She expressed her desire to see his friendship with GK Barry continue beyond the screen, confessing her enjoyment in watching their camaraderie unfold, calling it “wonderful.”
As Rebekah reflected on Coleen’s stint in I’m A Celebrity, dressed casually in a dark jumper with her locks tied back, she remained composed and congratulated her past confidante for having “had a fab series.”
She added that Coleen had “really done well” and ought to feel proud as she returns to the embrace of her family, husband Wayne Rooney and their sons.
Facing an audience that was likely expecting sparks to fly, Rebekah delivered a surprise with a sly grin, expressing: “I know you’re all waiting for me to say something else, but I’m sorry to disappoint. It’s just not happening. It’s really, really time to move on and end the year with a positive.”
Their friendship turned sour in 2019, following Coleen’s dramatic reveal on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) accusing Rebekah of leaking private Instagram content to The Sun newspaper, leading to a libel case that unfolded in London’s courts in May 2022.
Despite the glare of the high-profile case, which concluded with the conclusion that Coleen’s allegations were “substantially true,” forcing Rebekah to shoulder the bulk of both legal costs it appears that she has chosen to look ahead and leave the past in the past.
Rebekah was effusive in her praise for Danny’s victory, insisting the musician was “born for this” and lauding him for his resilience. She admired his determination, noting he “just got on with it” without a word of complaint.
Highlighting his emotional openness and his supportive nature when others needed an ear, she emphasised “how much it meant to him when he won.”
