As the dust settles on The Game Awards 2024, we get to have a look back at all the winners. But no time for that; we’ve got trailers to dig through! And wouldn’t you know it, but one of MiHoYo’s modern big three, Honkai: Star Rail got top billing.
Alongside Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail also had the honour of being up on the big screen at the glitzy Game Awards in Los Angeles. This new trailer gave us a sneak peek of Amphoreus, the next destination in your journey, and a mysterious new character named Castorice; not to mention a quick trip down memory lane of the locations you’ve already visited.
It should go without saying that it looks as if the glimpses we get of Amphoreus are sure to be like catnip to dedicated Honkai fans. But I’m sure most of you are wondering just who, or what, Castorice is and how they’ll fit into the story. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Big Geoff’s wild ride
The Grecian-inspired landscape of Amphoreus certainly fits, considering all the allusions to it and MiHoYo’s known habit of cribbing a bit from the real world for their fantasy cultures. According to some of the folks who’ve been theory crafting about it, an ampheoreus was actually an ancient Greek unit of measurement. All of which points to a certain amount of Hellenic inspiration for this upcoming update.
As for Castorice? Well, it seems that after Jane Doe MiHoYo have found themselves getting quite into the idea of mysterious new women popping up before debuting properly. Although I daresay she looks a little more mysterious than the biker rat.
